Hotel Policies

Welcome to Stone Chalet Bed & Breakfast Inn and Event Center

We look forward to your visit and want to help you make the most of your stay. If you run into any difficulty don’t hesitate to ask us for help.

Please review your reservation to confirm that it is correct. Let us know immediately if there are any problems with your invoice or if you need to cancel your reservation.


Breakfast is included for each guest at your choice of two breakfast seatings; 7:30, 8:30 am weekdays, 8:00, 9:00 am weekends. Earlier breakfast can be arranged for those attending conferences and meetings. Typically early breakfast starts at 7:00 am.  Please let us know at least a day early.

If you have a dietary restriction please let us know in advance so we can accommodate.  Please tell us what you want, not what you don't want.  It really helps both of us.

No Pets Live Here

Pets do not live on the property, however, the dog sometimes comes over to visit.

Payment: For single rooms we may take your credit card information or send you an invoice by email. We may charge your card three days before arrival per the cancellation policy or collect payment when you arrive. Cash and major credit cards accepted. We accept cash, Visa, MC AmEx, Discover.

Payment is required when reservations are made for graduation either over the phone or by emailed invoice.

Payment is due 30 days prior to arrival for group events, special events and football weekends.

For group stays we charge a $500 (+tax) non refundable deposit which is applied to the overall balance of your stay.

We may send you an invoice that you can pay online for the 30 day advance payment reservations.

Check-In/Out Time: Check in time is between 4 - 6 pm. Check out time is 11 am. If you need a later check in time please call or email ahead of time to schedule a time in writing to guarantee you can get in.

Check-in Times

Regular check in time is 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. However, you may arrange a check-in time that you want provided we can be here at that time. 

It is really helpful for all of us if you let us know what time you will be arriving so we can be here to let you in and show you to your room. We are happy to work with a time that is good for you as long as we know so please call in advance, email or text our cell phone to let us know. We understand travel plans are not set in stone and we are very accommodating.


We are located on the corner of Washtenaw and Berkshire.  Please park on Berkshire and come to the "Reception" entrance. 

Most likely the door will be locked for the safety of guests and residents. Please ring the bell and someone will come and let you in. 

This is a Bed and Breakfast not a hotel and therefore only a part time reception staff. Arrangements need to be made for your arrival.

Pre-arranged meeting times are best for everybody. That's why we call or email you before you arrive to ask you for your arrival time.  We appreciate it when you tell us when your arrival time is.

If you show up then leave, the reservation is subject to the cancellation policy (below).

Cancellation Policy

Single room: Cancel your reservation at least 3 days before check-in at no charge. Cancellations made after that are fully charged for up to 3 days max depending of time of cancellation or no-show.

Group, special event and football reservations: 30 days. After 30 days subject to re-booking and a 25% charge. 

Graduation cancellation policy: Cancel by January 5th for a full refund.

If you want to cancel your reservation please give 72 hours notice prior to check-in by email to (for single rooms). When you receive a reply your cancellation is confirmed. Group reservations should be cancelled much earlier to avoid fees.

Example: 72 hours is three days. So if your reservation is for a Tuesday night, please send your cancellation before check-in at 3 pm Saturday afternoon.

You can call the innkeepers by cell 734-417-7223 and leave a message, 3 days in advance please. When you receive an email back your cancellation is confirmed.  It's best to email if possible.

Did you book your room on Expedia,, or similar?  You need to cancel the reservation 3 days in advance at that site to avoid charges. We cannot cancel those types of reservations. 

Reservations not cancelled in advance will be charged for up to 3 days stay and cancelled.

What if I don’t like my room?

Please look at the website to learn about the features of the room you want to book. Call us with any questions before booking a room if necessary. If you don’t like your room we will offer you another room if one is available.

If something is missing please tell us so we can help you. We like to help our guests whenever we can.

Cancellations on the day of arrival are subject to the cancellation policy.

 Coming for a Visit

Feel free to come and visit us to see if you’d like to stay here. Visits can be scheduled by calling for an appointment.  If you have a reservation and change your mind and it’s 72 hours before your reservation begins we’d be happy not to charge you. The cancellation policy applies to all reservations.

These policies are subject to change.


I Left My...

Clothes, shorts, watch, suit jacket, toiletries, phone charger, dress, top & skirt, hat, necklace … You name it, we’ve probably found it in the room you stayed in.

We are happy to hold your belongings here for a while until you come and pick them up! We’ll even call you if we find something of your that seems remotely valuable or sentimental to let you know it’s here.

If you would like it mailed back please send a postage prepaid and addressed shipping envelope to Stone Chalet and we will put it in the mail. Or if it's easier send us $10 by PayPal and we'll take care of the postage.  If it requires more we'll let you know before we send it.
