Before you make a reservation, please note that Stone Chalet is a unique, intimate complex of historic buildings set in a quiet residential area. The property is most enjoyable for everyone when our guests appreciate and adhere to our policies below. We reserve the right to adjust and enforce these policies as needed to remain in compliance and in good standing with our neighbors.

Reservation, Cancellation and Payment Policies

Please carefully review your reservation confirmation upon receipt. Contact us immediately with any concerns, corrections, or changes. Please read ALL cancellation and payment information below, particularly noting those specific to your reservation.

For the record Stone Chalet does not have TVs in rooms. We do have fast WiFi so you can stream to your devices.

Last minute cancellations are available however there are no refunds in the event of a late cancellation or failure to read policies.

Invalid, Declined, or Incomplete Payment Information

In the unlikely event that your payment information is invalid, declined or incomplete,  we’ll make every attempt to contact you using the email and phone number you provided.   Unfortunately, if we If we cannot contact you to correct the payment method within a reasonable amount of time, your reservation will be cancelled.

Early Departure

Your time at the inn is subject to the cancellation policy of your particular stay. You may be subject to charges if you leave early.

How to Cancel

Send an email before the deadline to stay@stonechalet.com to cancel a reservation made directly on the Stone Chalet website or by phone or with the answering service, leave a message and we'll get back to you. Cancellations made after the cancellation deadline are fully charged for up to 3 days max depending of time of cancellation or no-show.


Did you book your room on Expedia, Hotels.com, booking.com, TripAdvisor or similar? You need to cancel those reservation at the site where is was made to avoid charges. We cannot cancel those types of reservations for you, however we can charge you if you don't cancel there.

We constantly endeavor to provide excellent service to our guests. In the unfortunate event that you run into any problems or we fail to meet your expectations, please bring your concerns to the attention of our staff immediately and we will do what we can to make things right.  While praise is always welcome, constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement will help us to continue to better serve our most valuable resource, our guests!

  • Check in is from 4-6 pm. We ask for your arrival time so we can be there to greet you. Sometimes an early check-in may be available. Contact our staff for details. Late check-ins are prearranged. We will send you entry instructions for your late arrival.
  • We do not have a 24 hour desk clerk, however we’re able to accommodate late arrivals with advance notification. 
  • Check out time is 11am.
  • Rooms in the Inn have no televisions, radios or video games, but we do provide complimentary high speed WiFi so you can enjoy your personal electronic devices. 
  • Stone Chalet is a non-smoking property and smoking is prohibited both inside all buildings, guest rooms and outside on the estate. Smoking bins are available near the sidewalk off the Reception and Parsonage walkways on Berkshire Road.  A $250 plus tax smoking damage and cleaning fee will be added to each room after checkout if this policy is violated.
  • All of our guest rooms offer both air conditioning and heating. In winter, we provide warm comforters in each room. Screened windows can be opened in summer, but please ask for assistance if needed as many in the main house still have their original mechanisms and must be handled with care. 
  • For the comfort of our guests and neighbors, we require that all noise is kept to a minimum after 10PM. All outside events must conclude by 8PM, however, guests are always welcome to quietly enjoy our peaceful, outdoor spaces in the evenings.  
  • If there is an event there will likely be sounds coming from the hall until shortly after 11 pm.
  • As with any historic buildings, caretaking is a continuous process. We’re always mindful of our guests as we carefully and discretely attend to the property throughout the year.
  • Stone Chalet does offer a easily maneuverable guest room called Ada's. It has 36 inch doors and a roll in shower. A shower chair is available upon request. The bed is low and easy to get into. A step up is required to get to the breakfast room from the Parsonage however you may have breakfast brought to your room if you are unable to get there. There are no elevators and several of the guest rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floors. Some areas of the property feature raised areas or steps which could prove difficult for certain guests. Please contact us to discuss any mobility or access concerns. We will make every effort to accommodate individual needs, restrictions and requirements. 
  • While we love animals no pets are allowed.

All individual guest room reservations require a credit card and are charged in full three days prior to your arrival.  Individual room reservations made directly on our website can be canceled without penalty or charge up to three days prior to your arrival.


To cancel a reservation made on StoneChalet.com, email us at stay@stonechalet.com so your request is in writing or call us at 734-417-7223. If we’re unable to answer your call, please leave a message with the answering service stating your name, phone number, and a brief description of your reservation details and we will return your call as soon as possible.


No-shows and cancellations less than three days prior to your arrival date are charged in full for the up to three days of the reserved period. Early departures may be subject to additional charges as well.


Reservations made on Expedia, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, or similar third party booking sites must comply with our cancellation policies and may be subject to additional cancellation restrictions from the booking site.


We are unable to cancel those third party reservations for you. You are solely responsible for cancelling your reservation on the third party site within the allotted time and in adherence to all cancellation policies to avoid any penalty charges.

Group Guest Room Reservations

Group Guest Room Reservations

Group Room Reservations are those that are guaranteed by one person for a block of three or more rooms for a specific event such as but not limited to weddings, family and friend gatherings, meetings or retreats etc.  If you have ten of your family each reserve a room for a particular weekend for a special event this still counts as a group booking and these rules still apply.


Group room reservations require a $530 non-refundable deposit used to hold your spot. Payment in full for all rooms is required 60 days before check-in. After 60 days there is no refund unless the room is rebooked.

Football Weekend Room Reservations

Football Weekend Room Reservations

Two night reservations are required for football weekends. Parents Weekend requires a three night minimum stay.


All individual guest room reservations on football weekends require a credit card and are charged in full thirty days prior to your arrival.  All individual guest room reservations on football weekends made directly on our website can be canceled without penalty up to thirty days prior to your arrival.


Cancellations within thirty days of your arrival may be refunded, minus a 25% handling fee, if the room is able to be booked for the same period. Otherwise, cancellations on football weekends within thirty days of your arrival will not be refunded.

Graduation Weekend Reservations

A three night minimum reservation from Thursday to Sunday for the annual big graduation celebration is required.


Room reservations for U of M graduation weekend require a credit card and a non-refundable $530 deposit per room.


Payment in full for all graduation weekend room reservations is due by January 6th of the graduation year and can be paid by check, emailed invoice or with the card on file. Final payments are not refundable.*


Room reservations for graduation weekend can be canceled without penalty, less the $530 non-refundable deposit, prior to January 6th.


*Graduation weekend reservations cancelled after January 6th may be refunded, minus the $530 deposit and a 25% handling fee, if the room is able to be booked for the same period. If feasible, your refund will be available after the reservation period has passed. Otherwise, cancellations for graduation weekend after January 6th will not be refunded.
